How it works
Pi-hole Companion is a native client app for your own Pi-hole — with no detour through third-party servers.
Direct connection
The app talks straight to your own Pi-hole on your network. There is no server of ours in between and nothing is cached anywhere.
Built for Pi-hole v6
Pi-hole Companion uses the official Pi-hole v6 REST API (available since February 2025). In v6 the API and web server are embedded directly into pihole-FTL — no lighttpd or PHP.
Secure sign-in
You sign in with an app password; the app exchanges it for a session (SID). Credentials live encrypted in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore and only ever leave your device towards your Pi-hole. 2FA/TOTP is supported; sessions expire after a short period of inactivity (around 5 minutes by default, configurable) and are renewed on each request.
Privacy by design
No cloud, no tracking, no analytics SDKs. All data stays between your phone and your Pi-hole — see our privacy policy for the details.
At home on your network
The app connects over your local network and handles the self-signed HTTPS certificates a home device typically uses.

A built-in demo mode shows the whole app with sample data — no Pi-hole needed, perfect for a first look.
